Central
Footwear Training Institue, a government of India society under
Small Industries Development Organisation, Ministry of Industry,
has two campuses - one in Agra and the other in Chennai.Over years,
the institute has been providing not only training to students but
also a number of support services to the footwear industry.
Aims
-
To provide training
and related inputs to develop and augment a class of trained personnel
in footwear technology and allied industry in the country

To develop human resources
in footwear and allied industry by introductiopn of advanced training
methods and courses, appropriate extension services and by acquiring
and imparting appropriate knowledge and skills to promote the
rapid growth of footwear and allied industry in the country

To promote ion general
and particular ways, the Indian footwear industry to attain international
stanmdards of production

The Central Footwear
Training Institute shall be run on cost covering principles, especially
in commercial operations and with a view to become self supporting

To train personnel
in footwear technology as per the requirements of trade and industry

To provide training
and research facilities to trainers and technologists in the footwear
industry with a view to upgrade their skills

To train footwear
designers

To undertake courses
in management of footwear industry

To train personnel
in maintenance of footwear machinery

To design and develop
moulds and dies for the footwear industry

To introduce modern
technology in footwear design

To assist and promote
technology upgradation in footwear industry

To develop products
and designs with a view to secure advantages in export production

To undertake testing
and assessment of footwear and its materials

To promote acquisition
of international standards in the industry

To foster appropriate
linkages between Central Footwear Training Institute and Industry
for utilisation of existing capacities and their upgradation and
to undertake consultancy services for development of footwear
industry

To establish linkages
with educational, research and developmental institutions in India
and abroad and to collaborate with them in training, rsearch and
development

To organise databases
and information dissemation on footwear technology, export marketing
etc and to establish suitable library and resource centre for
trainees and industry
