ISO 9002 for Talco Ranipet CETP Talco Ranipet Common Effluent Treatment Plant (Ranitec) was awarded ISO 9002 certificate with effect from 15 November 1999, making it the first common effluent treatment plant to receive the award. The award was conferred on the plant by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), a Netherlands based International organization for certification of Quality System. One of the largest CETPs for tannery effluents in the country, Ranitec pumps in the effluents from about 75 tanneries around Ranipet, which has a high concentration of leather manufacturers. Unlike other CTEPs, Ranitec uses process that combines both anaerobic and aerobic treatment systems. The plant also has the distinction of having been adopted by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization as a model CETP for the South East Asia region. Ranipet is also helped by Central Leather Research Institute, CLRI, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. |
