UPSIDC to set up Leather Technology Park at Unnao

Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation is working on a plan to set up a Leather Technology Park / Complex near Kanpur for setting up tanneries for manufacturing of leather goods. The complex will encompass an area of about 300 acres and total project cost is estimated at Rs 24 crore After development, about 90 acres of land will be used to set up tanneries, 25 acres for setting up manufacturing units for leather goods. A 2-MLD capacity Common Effluent Treatment Plant will also be set up in 20 acres of land at a cost of Rs 4 crore. Wide internal roads, quality power network, modernised telecommunication system, proper drainage and sewerage, technological support services, design centre and transport depot will be among the facilities available. To be located at Banthar, Unnao, the park is expected to boost production of leather goods and.exports from Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh is already a leading producer and exporter of leather and leather products in India and has more than 11217 leather units in small scale, 20 in medium and large sector and 34846 units in khadi village sector units, employing over 80,000 persons.
