Common Mistakes
in Lasting
- Too much lasting
margin. One mm extra lasting margin means one mm extra leather used.
- Lining not shorter
than upper resulting in poor adhesion of upper to insole.
- Vamps not matching
pairwise.
- Back seam crooked.
- Insufficient
lasting margin at waist or inside.

secs and let excess solvent run off for one minute before use.
- Saddle crooked.
- Wrinkles at
toe.
- Too many pleats
at toe after lasting.
- Too many pleats
in heel lasting.
- Lining wrinkles.
- Leather not
in line with the last especially on inside joint.
- Inside quarter
not 2 mm higher the outside quarter.
- Uppers not laced
correctly for lasting.
- Counters not
inserted upto the top end leaving a gap.
