TREND SELECTION - Summer 2001
ADAGIO
- SLOWTIME
COLOURS:
tones.faded by time
and light. The pale and neutral nuances are a basis for faded and dusty
pastels like plaster faded by the sun.
It is time to stop the schizophrenic zapping between the present and
the past balanced between what has been and what will be. But memory
cannot be wiped out, it is made of learned quotations that are timeless,
of a limited romanticism that leads us towards a delicate and sophisticated,
extremely feminine and sensual design. The warm colours reflect solar
light, raw materials eroded by atmospheric agents are veiled with
dust. Landscapes vibrate like mirages and are blurred by a play of
lights and shadows. Sinuous undulations in continuous movement.
MATERIALS
REDISCOVERING AND RESTORING:
finishes that embellish,
restore and bring back splendour like the ancient frescoes with their
worn out surfaces, faded by stonewashing, fading, rubbing, over-colouring.
The opaque flaky and suede aspects will have a powdery, opaque appearance
like flaking walls. Calfskins worked like opaque cowhide. Metallised
faded vegetal, shadowy vegetal paints. Shiny natural snakeskin, faded
and stonewashed small reptiles. Parchment paper, natural fibre, jute,
raffia weaves, coconut matting. Slightly interwoven leather like raffia.
Hand-made. Floral prints and soft and faded damasks like wallpaper.
Golden shades and inclusions like gold leaf. Embroidered embossing.
CONTROLUCE
- BACKLIGHTING
COLOURS:
"dull", deep colours flatter the strong and intellectual black. Deep,
dark blues like eclipses oppose the dazzling backlighting: bright white.
Violet and inky colours go well with lashes of red.
The sun's shadow darkens the earth and the environment quivers with
an enchanting black non-light. The shadows suddenly lengthen and make
daylight seem like night, a strange and unreal, enchanted, theatrical
light. lt is a time to reflect, a time for a sober sensuality coming
from the sought-after, dark, contrast colours. A style that is simplified
in its forms and colours, not minimal, but rather sought-after and that
reinvents luxury with detachment standing out like a precious pearl
in a sea of light and colour.
MATERIALS
LUXURY AND PRECIOUSNESS:
Hence,
great attention is paid to materials for this theme that is undoubtedly
trend setting and top quality.
The attention is again paid to opaque surfaces that are the counterpoint
for bright touches and limited transparency, to shading and opalesque
and pearly finishes on dark colours. Suedes and nabuks will look more
like shiny and precious snakeskin, lacquered micro reptiles, such as
tejus, shiny lacquer-effect soft leathers, shiny and glossy goatskin,
elastic and transparent mirror lacquers, satin effects, laminated and
glazed, opaque effect soft leathers. Micro paillettes, lacquered micro
stitching, small pleats.
RESPIRO
- BREATH
COLOURS:
clear
and bright that recall pure air Light blue, green, clear neutral and
limpid colours near fake, dark, deep and metallic blacks.
Exhilarating and soft atmospheres like breezes of pure air. Light, oxygen,
open spaces without limits, the pleasure of watching a hang-glider glide.
Poetry and contemporaneity. Even technology refuses to show off openly
and its research is brought towards something more lyrical. The new
nature evolves through new bio-connections that strengthen and create
new species and aim at perfecting the world that surrounds us. Light
is a means that transports colour, the earth's atmosphere is like an
enormous transparent and lightly coloured soap bubble: variable.
MATERIALS
LIGHTENING AND DEMATERIALISING:
Thinner
and thinner, suitable for being superimposed, or inflated, full of air.
Perforated transparency, with small regular patterns. Artificial bulging,
small bubbles like bubble pack full of air, small polka dots in transparent
gel and silicon. Variable polka dots like soap bubbles. Dacron effects
(sail cloth). Checks and stripes, two tone for aerial patterns. Gelatinous,
laminate, silicon paints. Precious mottles. Metallic mirrorfinishes
even perforated, especially on dark colours for the more sporty look.
Gummed finishes. Soft and voluminous, gelatinous calfskin. Soft and
bulging nabuk.
LIBERE
INVENZIONE - FREE CREATIONS
COLOURS:
a
range of strong and vital multicolours, sometimes quite gaudy other
times ethnic or fresh like a bouquet of flowers.
Today's nomads: the fragrant creativity of street artists, the vitality
of jugglers, the magical cheerfulness of the circus, the passional gypsy
music. It is a melting, a short circuit between the genders, the transgressive
spirit of those who have no limits to the freedom of thinking, acting,
creating. It is the moment of creativity, of an absolutely imaginative
style, made of colour and imagination. The incentives grow from the
pleasure of looking for ideas in the most unlikely places, intersecting
folk, ethnic and the past.
MATERIALS
MAXIMALISM AND CREATIVITY:
the
unique features are colour and creativity. Opaque, bulging, syrupy calfskin.
Lacquers, enamels, mother-of-pearl, like car bodies.
Shiny, abrasive, lacquered and rubbery snake skins. Multicolour weaves
in raffia and hide, reptiles and reptile prints to be put forward again
or renewed with new bicolour or two tone treatments with floral overprints,
flocks, and embroideries. Flowers in abundance, wallpaper style or cheerful
and loud to superimpose checks, polka dots, stripes and free designs.
Polka dots and flower patterns in paints on suede for shiny and opaque
effects, multicoloured rings through "DIP DYING soft leathers and double
flakes with laser engraving (bicolour). Printed effects like works of
art. Cut-out or printed lace effects on soft leather or suede to be
used in transparency or superimposed.
