Federation
of Indian Export Organisations
The
Federation was set up jointly by the Ministry of Commerce, Government
of India and trade and industry in the year 1965. As the apex body of
all Indian export promotion organisations, FIEO works as a partner of
the Government of India to promote Indian exports. Its members contribute
to 73.6% of India's exports. FIEO represents indirectly, over 100,000
exporters across India. It is a single window to Indian products and
Consultancy services
It
is registered with UNCTAD as a national non-Government organisation,
and has direct access to information/ data originating from UN bodies
and world agencies like the IMF, ADB, ESCAP, WORLD BANK, FAO, UNIDO
and others. In addition, it has bilateral arrangements for exchange
of information as well as for liaisoning with several overseas chambers
of commerce, and trade and industry associations.
Activities
Total Quality
Management (TQM) Department
- helps industries
to launch quality initiatives
- organises workshops/seminars
on TQM, ISO etc.
FIEO Information
Centre
- provides information
on India's Export sector
- provides assistance
to buyers abroad in sourcing
Electronic Data
Interchange and EDP Department
- Provides awareness
and education on EDI to India's private trade and industry.
- Manages FIEONET,
facilitating fast and low cost communication, for the India's private
trade and industry.
Market Development
Assistance (MDA) Department
- Takes care of
the grant disbursement - government grants to recognised exporters.
EXIM Policy,
Customs and Excise Department
- Offers advisory
services on India's Export-Import Policy, Customs and Excise rules
and regulations.
- Takes up the
problems of the exporters on this areas with the appropriate authorities.
- Monitors and
suggests the Government of India on the various policies, laws, rules
and regulations.
Market Research
and Development Department
- Offers the exporting
community services such as meetings with diplomats, incoming delegations
and buying missions, organising trade fairs abroad to project etc
Banking & Direct
Taxes Division
- offers advisory
services to exporters on matters related to Exchange Control and Foreign
Exchange Dealers Association of India (FEDAI) and Income Tax Act 1961
Publicity Department
- brings out publications/tele-serials/audio-video
road shows etc.
- brings out special
supplements in Indian and Overseas Dailies in order to project the
select finished products in India and abroad.
- brings out "FIEO
News" a fortnightly magazine to cover developments in the field of
international trade concerning India and other important potential
markets anywhere in the world is published.
